Route Planning

Has anyone written an Idiots Guide to help new users of the Anquet Mapping Software. I had a copy given at Christmas and can't manage to get a decent map complete with route to print

Colin I have had this trouble and you may have done EVERYTHING right but on your print selection, try it with the "alternative" print instead of the Standard print.

If left on standard - several times I have got just the route without the map underneith it. Quite frustrating.

I have been using the product since it came on the market. The guys are really helpful and will usually be able to fix the problem. Also If you would like to see something added to the product then drop them a line, they will add it to their "to do" list. Who knows it may figure in a later release.

How does it compare to Memory Map?

David. IMO (out of the two) I prefer Anquet. It is easier to use as to me MM was just not intuitive enough. Oh and it was overpriced.

Have a look in the site-reviews for a write up on each of the "big three" software manufacturers discs.

That said, my personal favourite was teh TrackLogs software which has the all important "undo" button!

Alex. I have to agree about the price of MM. I was lucky enough to be given one free when doing a review for a computer mag :) It works OK for the CD based maps, and there's good European and US coverage, but is a nightmare with self scanned ones. I found a cheap program (20 Euros) called emapzone I reviewed was better on scanned maps (that has the undo too!!) The biggest problem I find with MM and looking at Anquet is no-one does maps of The Republic of Ireland :(
