We are thinking of heading up to Skye for a week to camp out. It will be after the main summer hol and before we go back to school so between 10 August and 1 September.

We have been told today that we will need to book in a campsite soon as they get crammed in the summer.

Has anyone any experience of this? Can anyone recommend a decent site?

TIA.

Glenbrittle is probably my favourite, very handy for the Cuillin, at that time of year I would definately avoid the one by the Sligachen Hotel(or however it's spelt), it's very popular with both people and the midges who feed on them, midge like it there because it's by water and sheltered fom sea breezes, and plenty of campers to feed on, there are some sites round Portree which I haven't tried, you can also camp at Pete Thomas's place at Port na Long who also runs the croft bunkhouse (01478 640254), pub within walking distance and close enough to those luverly mountain thingies
