South Uist floodgate question

Anyone out there familiar with South Uist?

I wonder in fact if the floodgate between Loch Bee and Loch Sgioport at NF813401 is praticable to be crossed on foot? I found only one reference to this at http://www.iochdar.co.uk/downloads/Floodgate.rtf. Other official sites (http://www.storasuibhist.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/snbm-business-strategy-2009.pdf) state it has been repaired.

The floodgate is easily crossed - a couple of steps and you are there.
