I'm planning a trip to Loch Lomond in next few weeks, bag a few Munros.  Someone recommended I should take in the Cobbler as part of the trip.  Any thoughts people?

What's Arthur's Seat?

Go and do it - have a look on trip reports on Scottish Hills forum.

Edwin, I can find Trip Report Authors, but not Trip Reports?? Where do i look?

PS. Is there plenty of wild camp opportunities / busy area? Assuming you know....

It gets recommended in virtually every guide book known to man (well asides from munro blinkered ones anyway.).

Link to those reports here (not on this website, Scottish hills is just trip reports but a most useful/nice place.). Just a few of them.....

Being not terribly far from Glasgow I think you can imagine its not the quietest place in the highlands

Arthur's Seat is an old volcano in Edinburgh. A great wander or run.

Thanks all.....ooooo looks good, gonna go for it, on my round from Beinn Ime, before Beinn Narnain.

Unfortunately think I'll have to go over Bank Hol weekend....oh well, you cant have everything can you? (but you can have Jam!)

Don't panic, Maria, if you mean the end of August... it's not a Bank Holiday in Scotland

Smashing. Whoo hoo......

Watch out for Weegies in that part of Scotland Maria....they're densest in that area

You'll have to do it Maria cos Rob's done it...on my back when he was 8 months old in an unseasonably warm April in 1971 (I've been telling people for years that he was 6 months old but he must have been 8 months old). Having said that, he didn't thread the needle, I did that on my own while his mum looked after him. We had a picnic and some real coffee brewed by two weegie blokes in Macs, the only people we saw that day, they also served us up some bacon and egg in McKechnie's super soft, melt in the mouth bread rolls. You'll enjoy the exposure of threading the needle, btw, even though it's a bit tame after all you've done.

Hey Maria

there's loads of options for the Arrochar Alps and despite what some folk say there are plenty of wild camp opportunities depending on how you want to approach it.

The Cobbler is a fantastic wee hill and yes can be busy at weekends. Then again its no where near the same level of busyness that you see in the Lakes

Oi Kinley , nothing wrong with Weegies - we're a friendly bunch

BTW - I may be about that weekend

Hi Maria

Taking inspiration from the trip reports on scottishhills.com and in general from "ed H" on this forum, I did The Cobbler/Beinn Ime/Beinn Narnain horseshoe on a good day in June (after a 7 hour drive from London) and it was one of my best days ever! It really is a classic walk. Here are some photos if you are interested (especially if you like dogs).

I love dogs! (my Benjamin died end of March) He was 14 so had a good innings, but i do miss him! Thank you Alexis, nice pics, looks like some fun is to be had scrambling too.

Mal - will you put an order in for good weather Bamk Hol w'end?

Would love to join you but I am going to be a bit further north around Ben Hope, Ben Klibreck,  Seanna Bhraigh area.

Done the Cobbler when I was about 15 as I used to live just down the road from it in Clydebank
