I've got a Gold group in the Lakes later this year and they want to wild camp either at Hayeswater or Angle tarn.  DofE regs indicate that we have to get permission from the landowner but I can't find out who that is.

First indicators was that United Utilities owned Hayeswater but apparently not, anyone got any ideas?

Cheers

My first guess would have been United Utilities, but as you've already found out, they don't appear to own it.

So, I wonder if it's one of the other large landowners, like the Lowthers, or possibly the Dalemain estate.

Here's the contact details for Lowther Estates Lowther Estates

Also, the Dalemain Estate Dalemain

Failing that, it may be worthwhile giving the Lake District National Park a ring.   LDNPA

Thanks Lorraine, much appreciated, I'll give them a go.

It is surprisingly difficult find out who owns land without spending money with the Land Registry Office.

Thanks again

This suggests that Angle Tarn is owned by the National Trust:

Just an idea but contract.side farm. They have a Campsite so easy to contact. They're a local family from generations back so shld know as it is so close. That's the angletarn one. Outward Bounds go there a lot so perhaps contact the local centre. They probably have similar rules so have gone through this process.

Thanks TP, don't know why I didn't think of checking with OB Ullswater, I used to work there!
