car parking issues

Does anyone have any experience with the car park at Widecombe in the Moor? Was going to spend 3 or 4 days pottering around Dartmoor with a friend. Had everything planed out (but not double checked obviously. I always forget about car parks), and I just happened to pull up google street view and noticed that the village car park is pay and display. The guide didn't mention anything about it, and it was only written last year. I thought it a bit odd, and now I have a serious case of the doubts.

Does anyone know if I can pay for a couple of days? Or is it standard 24hrs only? And if it is, any suggestions as to somewhere else to park, cos I aint popping back every day to get myself another ticket. Thats a little pointless.

No, that's just a bad attempt at humour...

Try contacting either the local Tourist Information office or Police Station and ask if there's somewhere you can safely leave your car for a few days.

dont use the pay and display, use the larger carpark with the gate and the hut at the entrance.

used it the other week, you pay at the store across the road 1.50 per day and ithink you can pay for multiple days.

Awesome! thank you so much Terry! I so appreciate it. I think I know the one you mean, on google, its the car park opposite the pub.

i think thats the one, as you enter the villiage the pay and display/coach park is on your right with the green in front of you, pass the green and the car park is on your right with a low stone wall around it and a open wooden gate at the entrance with a wooden hut/shop .

pay in the shop across the road 1.50 per day ,at least it was a couple of weeks ago
