'Taking inspiration from the worlds of contemporary design and festival life, the Para Boot is defined by its distinctive styling and is designed for men who like to get out there, without any hassle.'

Hi-Tec's new Para Boot kind of slipped in under the radar, didn't see it until an image dropped into my inbox the other day, at which point it was a kind of 'what the hell is that?' moment.

We ran a quick 'Bonkers Boot' news story with the basic info gleaned from Hi-Tec's web site, but the nice people there sent us a bit more detailed beta on the boot, which is apparently named for the tree the rubber comes from rather than having anything to do with jumping out of planes, so now you know.

Anyway, here's the full Hi-Tec meeja release in full (obviously)...

The Para Boot quite simply brings the vulcanised rubber boot into the 21st century.  Named after the tree from which the rubber is sourced, it blends the convenience and practicality of humble wellingtons with the technological benefits of outdoor footwear engineering, to create a boot that know no boundaries.

Taking inspiration from the worlds of contemporary design and festival life, the Para Boot is defined by its distinctive styling and is designed for men who like to get out there, without any hassle.

Made from a waterproof, rugged, one-piece rubber upper, it provides protection, versatility and durability during wear.

Featuring toughened hardware and a toggle fastening, which allows for an adjustable fit, it also has a premium neoprene lining which provides long lasting comfort, alongside the Ortholite® sockliner, for underfoot cushioning, with anti-odour and anti-microbial properties, ensuring all-day comfort.  The exclusively designed Vibram® rubber outsole delivers world renowned traction and durability.

The Hi-Tec Para Boot - SRP £85
Men’s UK sizes 6 - 13; available in Cranberry/Black/Charcoal (shown), Yellow/Black/Charcoal and Slate/Black/Army

Hmm one feels this isn't a boot recommended for hillwalking? having had a chance to look at these, to say they are soft and flexible is a understatment

People all over the word wear wellies in the mountains with no harm done. In many places fip flops are de rigeur.

Only boot makers and received wisdom seem to have convinced people that you need proper stout boots or you will die.
