This isn't a full 'just in' or 'first impression', more a 'wow, did you see that?' sort of thing. 'That' in this case is running specialist brand RonHill's new Tempest Trail Jacket. It's a lightweight trail-running or maybe lightweight walking waterproof shell complete with a hood in a 2.5-layer fabric, but the good bit is that inside the chest pocket is an elasticated strap complete with one of those emergency whistle buckles.
The good bit is that you can stuff the jacket into the pocket and zip it closed and shazaam, you have an instant sort of jacket bum-bag that you can clip around your waist and run or cycle or walk with. And if it rains again, simply un-stuff it and put it back on.
We've seen similar stuff in the distant past, but while a fair few lightweight waterproofs stuff into their own pockets very few, if any, have a decent integrated wasist-strap. Genius and very nicely done.
More about the jacket as a whole next week then... And did we mention the matching trousers?
