A quick rapid preview look at Rab's Stretch Neo waterproof jacket made with Polartec's new NeoShell fabric and due out later this year.

We've already told you a little about Polartec's new for autumn 2011 NeoShell waterproof fabric, which is being touted as the most breathable waterproof material on the market with genuine air permeability from a PU membrane, but we thought you might like a quick look at Rab's take on the new fabric, in the shape of their Stretch Neo Jacket due out in late summer/early autumn.

Rab is still going to be using eVent for most of their established waterproof shell range, but what marks the NeoShell out is that it has built-in stretch - an option not available with eVent so far - and, according to our secret Rab mole, has 'a lovely soft feel, good waterproofing and is super breathable'.

It's an all-round mountain jacket with a claimed weight of about 480g, helmet-compatible hood with wired peak, YKK Aquaguard zips all round, two external Napoleon pockets, two mesh ones and a medium-length cut for versatility rather than just technical climbing use. Price to be confirmed, but it looks like it'll be an interesting and, if claims are true, super breathable new option when it appear in autumn 2011.
