The Spitz was first introduced into the Haglöfs range in 2007 and promptly won an ISPO Outdoor Award for its ‘meticulous workmanship, use of high-tech materials and an extremely functional design’. Since then it has earnt the reputation of being one of the most adaptable, durable and functional pieces of kit for any outdoor enthusiast or specialist, and it is testament to its design that it has changed very little in the past 2 and a half years!
The design idea behind the Spitz was to create a minimalist shell jacket that is tough yet lightweight (495gms – size L). The main body of the jacket is made from a lightweight Gore-Tex® Pro Shell fabric which has great resistance to abrasion, and the woven micro grid backer provides higher durability, enhanced breathability, less friction and lower weight than other woven backers. The shoulder, back and hip sections are all reinforced to further increase durability, and the minimal seaming reduces wear and tear and the risk of leakage.
The fit is close, and the length short enough to wear with a harness and not interfere with leg movement whilst skiing. Of particular mention is the hood. Its large size easily fits over a helmet and the 3-way adjustment ensures it fits neatly even if over a bare head.
