How To... Create And Save Routes Using Anquet Maps
Create and save digital map based routes for sharing and uploading to your GPS
If you've purchased the Anquet National Parks maps on DVD you may not realise that the whole system of route naming and file saving has changed over the last couple of years, mainly to incorporate a whole new raft of information that can now be embedded in the files. Creating the routes is simple enough, and editing them is a doddle, but if you're looking for a "Save Route" option you'll find it's no longer there. So how do you save your routes for future use and sharing? Well follow our 5 step guide and you'll soon be on your way :)
Step 1
The latest version of Anquet has changed its system for saving routes. The new system uses a database system with .ADF format files. Each database can hold multiple Routes, Waypoints and Tracks along with links to any lpictures held on your own PC or online that are linked to Waypoints. It's important to remember that local links won't be included if you share the files with friends.

Step 2
Every time you create a route the information is automatically saved to a default database in your Anquet Map Data folder. When open this will display all routes saved to this database. The Anquet Map Data folder also stores all your DVD and downloaded maps in one place. You still need to have any maps installed activated through Anquet's website.
|
Step 3
Before creating a route go to File\ Database and close all open databases. This ensures that no other routes will appear in the new database you should now create. The new database will only contain routes and marks placed after opening this database, already existing ones will remain in the Unfiled Data database.
|
Step 4
Name the new database as you would a route and when finished select File\Save As. You can now save the file to your choice of location, then send it as an email attachment. If you want to include multiple routes in a single database you can name the routes individually and give the database a descriptive name such as "Wainwrights Southern Fells".
|
Step 5
As well as being able to share the route via email you can also upload the route to the Anquet server to share with other users. The route will display in any available scale map on the end users system. Routes can also be uploaded to OM's own route sharing system, as well as transferred to hardware using the .GPX file option.
