THE NORTH FACE EXPEDITION
SHIRT

What
is it? Really a very simple Polartec 100 microfleece top with a
TNF logo on it.
Oh
yeah, what makes it special then? Well it's got a North Face logo
on it, but it's also been thought out, in fact it's been thought out
so well that it hasn't changed for years. It's pretty much the
original microfleece and a classic.
How's that then? There's a neat drop tail so it stays tucked in
or hangs out and looks kind of cool and casual, a zipped neck with a
baffle and, horror of horrors, a useful zipped chest pocket.
Not
Convinced... Microfleece is superb all round mountain wear. You
can wear it as a super warm baselayer, as an light, easy to carry
warm up for stops and it's just about as warm as most people need
under a shell jacket - any more and you simply boil in the bag.
Brilliant.
Any
flaws? Well, the cuffs are tad tight if you like to roll -em up
around your muscly climber's forearms, but hey, you can get it in
black. Black is way cool.
And
is it still around? Sure is. Around 50 quid from outdoor
retailers. Details from The
North Face web site.
You
are so shallow and materialistic... Yeah I know, great isn't
it.

I think what OM tries to do is pretty brilliant. Some of the chats, banter, cameraderie, humour ... is excellent. Gear reviews ...... new kit on the block ... But there are times when a reality check seems reasonable. *<|:-)
