OutDoor 2012 - Day Two

Following on from our Day One round-up from this year's OutDoor trade show in Germany, here's a collection of highlights from our second day of gazing into the spring 2013 future of gear. It's mostly kit that'll be in the shops early in 2013 and we'll be bringing you more detail on a lot of it later this week.

But to start with, this is the new Rab Myriad Jacket, a lighter weight waterproof shell made from Polartec's acclaimed NeoShell fabric. The material is 22 grammes per square metre lighter than the NeoShell used for the original Rab Stretch Neo jacket giving an overall claimed weight of just 410g, almost 100g less than the earlier jacket.

It's a lightweight alpine shell with helmet hood, big chest pockets and a YKK Aquaguard zip - think Latok Alpine but in Polartec fabric. Looks good from here and expands the small choice of NeoShell garments available in the UK.

Hmmmm, so nowhere as exciting as Outdoor 2011... a bit disapointing...

I think there's a fair bit of evolution rather than revolution in the industry at the moment, but there are also some interesting new bits and bobs we've not touched on yet. Watch this space over the next few days and we'll bring you some brand-specific updates.

Unless I've missed it, you taunted us with a photo of some new packs from Montane and then not written anything about them...?
