What's 'mild camping' then? Well, it's kind of the opposite of wild camping. Not full-on family tents and table and sofas stuff, but an embracing of the concept of a bit of extra luxury when you're car camping for the week or weekend, have less restrictions on weight and space than when you're backpacking, but don't want to go completely bonkers on the bulk front.
It's stuff like fat mats instead of skinny ones, a way of making really good coffee with minimal fuss and a tent that'll make things feel a little more airy and little less minimal squeeze. And to kick things off, here's our ultimate mild camping tent, the Nordic teepee from Tentipi.
Tentipis are made from thick polycotton canvas, they go up in about five minutes thanks to a central pole lay-out and they're cool, both in reality and metaphorically - kids love 'em too... The central vent even allows you to run a fire-box inside the tent for extra warmth on chilly evenings and, well, they are just lovely. More about our experiences here along with some images and links. Not cheap, but very, very cool...
