In The Beginning...

This is what you get if you buy a 'The Cave', Heimplanet's inflatable tent. At just over 5kg it's not backpackable, but then it's not supposed to be. It was invented by a pair of German surfer dudes to be a low hassle, highly cool, rapidly pitchable home from home. Something you could use both for overnight shelter or just to hunker down in for a spot of lunch on a blowy day on some remote patch of Atlantic coast with the waves rolling in.

Or, for most of us, something you could whip out of the boot of your car and pop up in a matter of minutes after a long, tiring Friday night drive to the mountains. Even in the dark when multi-poled, conventional tents can be a trial.
