Just finishing off our round-up of 2010
kit from the OutDoor trade show in Germany last month with
the news that sportswear giant Adidas has a whole range of outdoor
clothing and footwear due to the hit the stores come spring 2010.
We're actually off to see the guys at Adidas HQ this afternoon, so more
detail soon, but there was plenty to see on the stand at
Friedrichshafen using top notch fabrics and materials and ranging from
trekking boots through to technical mountain clothing all emblazoned
with the brand's signature three stripes.
And if you think that's all new for the company, think again. In pride
of place on the stand was an original Adidas trekking boot worn by none
other than Reinhold Messner for his walk in to Everest base camp. And
to honour the achievement, Adidas has created a limited edition replica
version - below - plus a modern equivalent.
The interesting bit is going to be just how well the company can
translate its enormous resources and technical running know how into
the outdoors. We're expecting some cracking approach shoes and mids
like the award-scooping Terrex Fast X FM Mid GTX pictured up there.
More shortly, just watch this space...
