A quick heads-up on another chance to buy Aldi's budget walking gear later this month.

The German-owned supermarket chain periodically unleashes its cheap but cheerful Crane-branded walking kit on an unsuspecting outdoor world and it's astonishingly good value for money. Ideal if you're just getting into walking or simply skint...

The latest range of walking clothing will be in store during the week commencing 20 April 2006 and forms part of the weekly special buys range. There's some interesting kit on offer this time as well.

For just £12.99 you can join the soft shell revolution with a jacket made from 93% polyester and 7% elastane complete with a DWR finish and in a variety of colours and sizes.

A merino - actually 70% merino, 30%acrylic - mid-layer will set you back just £8.99 while polyamide outdoor trousers in full or zip-off form are just £9.99. Shorts are £6.99 and polyester baselayers £3.99.

And for £2.99 you can have a pair of Crane Sports Gaiters complete with undershoe elastic and elasticated ankles...

Blimey. You can find your nearest Aldi store at www.aldi-stores.co.uk

Bought a pair of lightweight boots for a tenner, they have done the sands of Morocco, plus our Snowdon and Helvellyn a couple of times. And after a bit of spit and polish, they still look good and have been comfortable wet or dry.I would recommend anyone to have a look.
Its to the good of OUTDOORSmagic that they are willing to mention the brands at the lower price end of the market.rather than one publication that recently said, unless you pay at least GBP100 for a pair of boots, you only get rubbish.
So well done O.M. for getting the balance right. It seems some periodicals are just glorified adverts for their Patrons.
Cheers Dave.
