Alpkit's range of decently priced and more than decent quality outdoor products continues to grow with the launch of their new 6-pint / 3.4-litre hydration system.

Dubbed the 'Camelsak' - geddit - the new bladder, says Alpkit, 'takes rehydration to a whole new level'. We're guessing that the company has used its extensive contacts book in the industry to buy into new technology early with some intriguiing results.

The new Sports Performance Enhancement and Recovery Module claims to regulate the concentration of energy drink released to conform exactly to your body's needs. That means a well-hydrated athlete could receive a more concentrated solution for better energy and electrolyte replacement, while a less hydrated one, might receive a mixture designed to rapidly increase hydration.

We think its a fantastic idea and are looking forward to trying the Camelsak properly once it becomes available which will hopefully be soon. Good to see an innovative British outift leading the way.

Erm, isn't this a joke? Especially considering the next and previous products are the "firmarest" and "jamalot" respectively. Seemingly serious tone of your post suggests you might not have taken it as so.

A day late.

I just found it on the Alpkit site, it seemed like an, erm, interesting idea and they did say they'd send us one for test :-)
