Jacket using new Polartec wonder fabric lands award at major trade show.
The North Face
has landed an award at the recent ISPO show for a soft shell jacket
made using Polartec's new
PowerShield
Pro nigh on waterproof soft shell fabric.
The Kishtwar Jacket is a hooded technnical soft shell top which will be
part of The North Face's top-end Summit Series when it appears in late
summer 2010. It is, says the brand, 'designed specifically for highly
aerobic endeavours in foul weather'.
It has a highly abrasion resistant for protection from rough rock faces
and a durable water repellant finish. The Alpine fit is designed to be
non-restrictive for high aerobic mountain use, openings are adjustable
and can be cinched down to keep the weather out and there's a
full-adjustable fixed hood.
The key to the jacket is the new
Polartec
PowerShield Pro, a waterproof soft shell fabric
that's claimed to be considerably more breathable than its competitors
making it ideal for hard aerobic use. The material, says Polartec,
'dramatically ratchets up the fabric's water resistance, while
retaining critical breathability'.
If you can't wait till September, we've been using TNF's new for spring
2010
Aero
Jacket a technical soft shell made from Gore
Windstopper windproof and nigh on waterproof fabric - get the
similarities - which was developed in conjunction with the company's
sponsored climbers including Conrad Anker and which, so far, has really
impressed us with its cut and neat design. The new Polartec fabric may
well have the edge when it comes to breathability, but don't
let that overshadow other qualities. Look for a full test soon.
