From September you'll be able to buy Berghaus kit from a Berghaus shop.
Interesting news from Berghaus which is opening its first
flagship store in the Gateshead Metro Centre later this
year.
The shop's due to open its doors in September - just in time for
the autumn/winter collection - and will stock the latest products
from across the company's range of outdoor clothing and
equipment.

That will no doubt include the new Ator kit, which is Berghaus's
attempt to produce all-round outdoor performance clothing that will
appeal to a younger, more fashion and brand-aware audience. And, on
top of that, there will be an amazing 43 new styles in its core walking and
climbing range.
Of course own brand stores are nothing new in the outdoors
industry. The North Face has several already, with another due to
launch in Leeds this week, but the Berghaus store is unusual in that
it will be owned and operated directly by Berghaus rather than with a
retail partner.
The Metrocentre receives around 24 million visits a year, so the
shop will put the Berghaus brand in front of a lot of potential
customers who wouldn't necessarily use a normal outdoor shop.
Brand president Richard Cotter is bullish about the company's
aims:
"Berghaus is an ambitious company and we have made it clear that
we aim to be one of the top five global outdoor brands. This
flagship store is a very exciting prospect and provides us with an
outstanding commercial opportunity as a key element of our overall
strategy.
"In our North East England heartland, we will be able to present
the brand and its products in exactly the way that we want. We will
be able to communicate more effectively with our consumers and we
will be able to showcase and trial new product innovations in a way
that we have never been able to manage before."
The company aren't selling out to become a fashion-type brand
though, seems to be the message from Cotter:
"We remain committed to delivering the highest quality outdoor
gear for our consumers and our flagship store will reflect that, in
both its appearance and contents."
