Berghaus is working with Blacks to produce a range of Berghaus tents and sleeping bags which will go on sale from early June 2010 and have been developed by a product team made up of representatives from both companies.
The new range comprises five tents and three sleeping bags and is, says Berghaus, 'aimed at committed backpackers, camping enthusiasts and travellers'. It is, they say, a 'premium range that complements the existing Berghaus product collection'.
The tents will be produced by the Blacks Leisure Group under licence and sleep from two to six people. They're made from 'high quality materials' and aim to offer good weather protection combined with functionality and 'practical storage and carrying options'.
As an example, the two-person Snowdonia 2.1 tunnel tent is priced at £129.99 and aimed at multi-day backpackers, while the Torridon 6.2 is a large family pod dome design featuring a pair of inner tents and sleeps six people.
Other tents in the range include: the Peak 2.1, a two person dome tent at £119.99; the Lomond 3.1, a three person tunnel tent at £249.99; and the Cuillin 4.2, a four person family tent at £349.99.
The tents are complemented by three sleeping bags - a three season down bag, a four season synthetic bag and a one to two season synthetic bag. All of the bags are made with a nylon outer fabric and come with a compression stuff sac.
The Flare 600 retails at £139.99 and uses 600 fill power 90/10 goose down in a box baffle construction, the bag weighs 1,298g. The Berghaus Flare 1600 is a synthetic fill alternative to the Flame and will sell for £99.99 The Flare uses Berghaus’ AT Fibre Fill and its HEAT (Honeycomb Engineered Advanced Thermals) technology to maximise its thermal efficiency, and weighs 1,654g.
Finally there's a rectangular synthetic fill bag, utilising Berghaus’ own AT Fibre Fill insulation. Called the Flare 850, it's designed for warmer months and travel use, price is £5.99.
Interesting stuff. The bags and tents will be available in the UK solely from Blacks and Millets outlets from early June and will also be sold worldwide through Berghaus's own direct retails channels.
