Berghaus is the first UK brand to feature the new Polartec range of reycled fleece fabrics and the only one worldwide to use recycled Polartec Thermal Pro.

Two of Berghaus's establised designs are now using recycled Polartec fabrics, the classic Activity Jacket IA and the technical Sangar jacket which also has reinforced shoulders and hips for pack-friendly use.

Berghaus Sangar in recycled Thermal Pro saving 2.5 litres of oil.

Polartec has been producing recycled fabrics since 1993 and says that the energy saved when when producing recycled Polartec® fabric is equal to approximately two litres of oil per 500g of yarn.

In other words, a Sangar jacket in large saves approximately 2.5 litres of the black slippery stuff and a women's Activity fleece saves 2 litres.

Recent yarn technologies have revolutionised opportunities to expand and improve the range of range of recycled fabrics in the Polartec range with recycled Thermal Pro fleece and Power Dry base layer fabrics appearing for 2007.

Polartec is also keen to stress that there's absolutely no reduction in performance and the new recycled fabrics perform and look just the same as their equivalents made from virgin yarn.

You can expect to see a lot more recycled and sustainable fabrics appearing next year as well. The Activity IA jacket retails for £60 and the Sangar for £80, both available in men's and women's versions.

Well, it's hardly news. Berghaus and Sprayway (and Lowe, and TNF) were using PT200R at least as far back as 1996.

And Berghaus a 'UK Brand'? Well, yes, but, like just about everyone else, made in China, so what difference does it really make?

Bah, humbug...
