Berghaus fans who sometimes take to two wheels will be delighted to learn that the NE-based company has expanded into cycling with a collection of bike-specific clothing in the shops now.

The new Denizen jacket in Gore-Tex Paclite
with 3-layer stretch XCR reinforcement
priced at £140 and looking good
The range has been produced by cycling specialists Raw Experience - the company previously behind the well-respected Karrimor bike kit - who have been cooperating closely with Berghaus to ensure that the new kit is well up to scratch.

You'll recognise the fabrics used as well - they include stuff like Gore-Tex's highly breathable and lightweight Paclite, which is used in three waterproof jackets, the company's own brand Aquafoil waterproof material and Gore's XCR.

Obviously you can use all-round lightweight jackets for mountain biking and road cycling, but cycling-specific stuff tends to be more minimalist, have no hood - although an optional Berghaus add-on XCR item is available - and is cut tighter with a more exaggerated drop-tail to protect your nether regions from the ravages of rear wheel throw-up.

As well as the three Paclite tops - two for men and a women's specific version - there's a hardcore winter waterproof the Tyrant, made from XCR, a pair of overtrousers and some lightweight insulation options.

We particularly like the look of the Lithium, a Primaloft-filled insulated jacket with zip-off sleeves. It comes in a scary yellow colour but fortunately it's reversible giving a more restrained charcoal option.
