Black Diamond's new Viper

The Sharp End Award is presented by the Access Fund every year and
BD's 2002 award was, in their words: 'for outstanding advocacy for
climbers over the past decade and their commitment and dedication to
keeping climbing areas open and preserving the climbing
environment.'
Before you go all cynical, this is the company that at one point
advised its consumers not to buy its own anodised hardware because of
ecological misgivings over the processes used. It's also the sister
outfit to clothing company Patagonia which is well known for giving a
significant slice of its profits to ecological causes.
More information on Black Diamond kit at the company's web
site.

That's REALLY impressive. I wonder why they arrived at that decison AFTER the stuff was made...

its certainly a very noble (if somewhat bad for business) attitude to have.
Imagie if more companies though like this :"FORD - 'Don't buy our cars, we kill your environment'" etc
