Boots And Bags For A Tenner

Swap your old boots or sleeping bag plus ten quid for a new replacement? No, we didn't believe it either, but it's true...

Okay sit down because this sounds a tad mad and unbelievable.

This coming weekend 19-20 May, you can take in a pair of old walking boots or an old sleeping bag to any Cotswold Outdoor shop in the country, hand them over and pay just £10, yep, ten quid, for 'any new pair of walking boots from the Scarpa range' or, in the case of a sleeping bag, 'a new Mountain Equipment sleeping bag for £10.'

The old kit handed in will be donated to the Red Cross and sold off from Red Cross shops across the country, so it's not even insanely selfish and greedy.

So what's the catch? None as far as we can see: numbers are limited to the first ten at each store for the Scarpa boot deal and the first 20 for the Mountain Equipment sleeping bag one. It's valid at all the Cotswold/AS Adventure Store branches in the country, except for the Rockbottom store in North Wales.

If you're too late for the main offer, you'll still be able to get a 15 per-cent reduction off selected boots and sleeping bags in the store on presentation of your old items.

We reckon there's going to be some Cotswold camping going on this Friday night then.

Full details and reality check from the Cotswold web site.

Looks like a blinding deal to us, so who's going to be first through the door on Saturday morning? Are you tempted?

Today, very today, I just bought a pair of Scarpa SLs! Now I learn that in a few days time I can get them for ten quid (and get rid of my bleedim' Brashers at the same time). Question is, is it worth me getting up very early and driving all the way to Cotswolds? Will people really camp out? Hold on, I could camp! I do Feel sorry for the gear shop I bought my SLs from. They did me 15% off anyway and have been hard-hit by F&M. Yet, having not used the boots, I could just take them straight back tomorrow, and at least try my luck on Saturday.

Anyone else going to?
