Boots And Beer A Big Hit
The first ever joint Brasher and Black Sheep sponsored Boots and Beer Festival in the Dales was very sunny, quite beery and just all round mellow. Nice.

Last weekend's first ever Brasher
and Black Sheep Boots and Beer Festival in the Yorkshire Dales was a
big success with a top mix of walking and drinking in perfect
sunshine.
Around 80 walkers rolled up in Hawes where they were greeted with
banner-festooned Black Sheep pubs and a goody bag containing, among
other things, an event tee-shirt, Dr Scholl foot care products and
some Kendal Mint Cake... Mmmmm.
A selection of detailed self-guided walks with check points
compiled by local routes expert and author of 'The
Inn Way' series of guide books, Mark Reid were handed out and
everyone had a good time, especially the couple who managed to spend
most of Saturday afternoon in the Green Dragon properly testing the
sponsor's wares.
Saturday night's event party drew 130 people with a live band and
Eric Pollard from Emmerdale helping to raise around £1000 for
the Dales Millennium Trust and may have contributed to the slightly
subdued atmosphere when OM editor Jon Doran turned up on Sunday
morning for a gentle amble through the hills.
Boots or beer? 'A bit of both,' said Catherine from Brasher.
'People have come for a good weekend rather than hard hillwalking.'
Clearly an invitation to go to the pub, so we did - as part of the
walk mind.
It's early days yet, but there will be almost certainly be another
Boots and Beer Festival next year, with the location and details to
be confirmed in due course. So if you fancy a mellow weekend in great
walking country, keep your eyes peeled next summer.
