Brasher Cuts Prices
The lightweight boot specialists have withdrawn a price
increase in an effort to support retailers hit by foot and mouth,
and, erm, to sell more boots

The Brasher Boot Company is cutting the prices of its top-selling
walking boots as a gesture to help the retail trade in the aftermath
of foot and mouth.
The company announced price increases in March this year, which
took effect on September 1, as a response to a 30 per-cent increase
in the price of raw hides in 2000. However the prices have now been
reduced to 2000-01 levels.
For the customer, that means reductions of £5.00 in the
prices of the Supalite, Hillmaster GTX and Classic and Fellmaster
Classic and a tenner off the price of the Fellmaster GTX from
£100 to £90. Not bad.
But before you go all misty eyed, the company also says the reason
it's been able to take the step is 'in anticipation of leather prices
softening as a result of the depression in world economy.'
Brasher's MD, Robert Perkins also reckons the events of September
11 could lead to a boom in domestic walking holidays, with people
reluctant to fly and says the company is 'preparing for an increase
in the demand for all its walking products.'
