What with it being summer, we're getting into the seasonal silly
season, but here are few news briefs that might be of interest.
Broadband In Wensleydale
Fancy
a week in the Dales, but can't live without broadband? Pamela and
Mike Hayes have fitted a broadband connection to one of their holiday
cottages in Wensleydale, so now you can take the outside world
with you. There's also a connection point in the couple's b and b
accommodation.

New Peak Pad
Also
on the accommodation front, there's an intersting new option in the
centre of the Dark Peak near Ladybower, which has some superb walking
and biking terrain and is handily close to all that Peak gritstone.
Peak Pad is a dramatic looking conversion of the original
Ladybower pumping station and looks like a great option for that
mildly luxurious weekend away - go as a group and you could spend as
little as 15 quid per head a night.

Stylish Wimmin's Shoes From Trezetta
The new
Juliette walking shoe and boot is targeted straight at the more
fashion-conscious end of the walking market - so not us then. Said to
be 'complete with Italian flair', the shoe uses a blend of waterproof
suede, Cordura and a Gore-Tex XCR lining with a sooper dooper sole
incorporating a microporous shock absorber along with a grippy
outsole.
The Juliette is available in low or mid-cut versions and claims to
offer a stylish alternative to more traditional walking boots. Hey ho
:-)

The North Face Keeps Your Legs Happy
The
guys at TNF would like us to tell you that they have an extensive
range of shorts and trousers under the Tekware area of their vast
wardrobe, so we shall...
The Paramount and Meridian trousers and shorts are aimed squarely
at adventure travel as well as slopping around in the UK. This year
the Meridian's get a softer, more comfortable fabric, new
style pockets on cargo pants and shorts, roll up cuffs on the trews
and articulated knees. The fabric has a UPF of 30 + for sun protection
too and they're quick drying as well.
The Paramount trousers and shorts use a heavier weight
fabric for added toughness and new convertible pants and cargo shorts
debut this year. They offer the same sun protection factor as the
Meridian too and again, like the Meridians, the convertibles come in
a variety of leg lengths for optimum fit.
Nice to see 'trousers' instead of 'pants' for a change. It's all
getting a tad too mid-Atlantic for us...
