Chicken Tikka Masala Anyone?

Wayfayrer gets its teeth into Indian camp food, along with some tasty new energy bars...

Wayfayrer Chicken Tikka MasalaCamping foods manufacturer Wayfayrer has added one of Britain's most commonly eaten meals to its range this autumn - and no, that's not fish and chips, or a BLT sandwich, it's Chicken Tikka Masala.

Pilau Rice and the Masala sauce itself will be sold in separate bags and they'll be hitting the shops any day now, so you should be able to take the flavours of the local curry house out onto the fells, or the campsite, on your next long weekend away.

Like all Wayfayrer meals, the dishes have been fully prepared before they reach the shelves, so all you have to do is heat them up - or just spoon them out of the bag cold, if the situation's getting desperate:-)

Price is £3.50 for the Chicken Tikka (300g) and £1.50 for the rice (200g).

Snack Time

If you're more of a day-hiker who only needs to carry a few snacks to get you as far as the chippie or the pub, Wayfayrer have something up their sleeves for you as well.

They're launching a new series of energy bars - Energisers - which come in three flavours: Choc and Oat, Cappuccino, and Mixed Berry.

There's already a bewildering range of energy bars on the market to choose from, but the folks at Wayfyarer reckon that most of them don't taste that great, and that it's time for an energy bar where taste bud satisfaction comes into the equation.

We haven't tasted the Energisers ourselves yet - although we doubt it will be long before we get our teeth into the Choc and Oat version - so we can't tell you whether they pass the taste test. As with the Chicken Tikka Masala, they should be in the shops any day now, so you can try them out for yourself.

Price is 99p per bar, and the ethically-conscious will be pleased to know that they carry the Fair Trade symbol too:-)

A bit OT, but is the packaging of the bars made of cardboard? It looks like it, what a great idea, been waiting to do that for ages. doing their bit for recycling!
