Christmas Cracker Thirteen - Lakes DVDs
Down to the wire now, with the fat Santa about to sing, but how about a last minute Lake District film or photo DVD or even an illustrated guide with commentary to Scafell?

What do you buy for the outdoor person who has everything?
Between now and Christmas, we'll be running a daily Christmas
Cracker featuring an inspired Christmas gift idea to help you
cope with that tricky purchasing situation.
Number 13: 214 Fells Lake District DVDs
We're getting to the point where we're talking belated Christmas
presents, but hey, you never know...
Here's one that 's probably best suited to the more mature
fellwalking gentleman or lady. Over at 214fells.com they have
a whole range of DVD movies and photo compilations of the Lakes. We
say they're perhaps best suited to the more mature walker because the
style is quite conservative, so one for dad or your walking-mad uncle
perhaps...
Also interesting for OMers, will be the 'Complete Scafell Pike PC
CD Rom' which is a photographic guide to the main routes up Scafell
with a commentary plus printable photographs and an 'I've Climbed
Scafell' print-off certificate.
Anyway, you can try before buying on the web site thanks to
downloadable samples. Prices range from £5 to £10 and you
can find everything you need at www.104fells.com. Doh, 214fells.com but the link goes to the right place anyway :-)

I am presuming that the above company that produces these DVDs has paid for this advertisement. My point being that I would not be endorsing this product in a month of Sundays. These DVDs are excessively short and do not represent value. A much better choice, if you are yearning for that Lakeland experience in your living room, would be to check out the following. Hillwalks on video produce a really nice product that covers some of the main routes/fells and is filmed from the walker's perspective. And no, I am not affiliated with the company in any way. I have all the Lake District DVDs plus a few others from the range and they are really good. http://www.hillwalksonvideo.com/acatalog/info.html

No, none of the editorial on this site is paid for. That's why it's editorial. If it were paid for it would be either an advert or marked advertorial. Those are adverts over there on the right ;-) -----> You can disagree that it's a reasonable Christmas present idea of course, that's your right but it's certainly not paid for and we're always explicit if we do carry advertorial content. Thanks for the heads up on the hillwalksonvideo site btw.

Personally I prefer the ones from Striding Edge.......but that's the thing about personal choice - it's personal.
