You can forget the trek to Everest Base Camp, the Inca Trail and
the rest of the world's great treks, according to a Country Walking
Magazine survey, the good old Coast to Coast beats 'em all.
In fact, in the survey of 'guidebook writers and other experts'
asked to nominate their top routes from a shortlist of 60, only the
Milford Track in New Zealand topped Alfred Wainwright's classic
190-mile route from St Bees to Robin Hood's Bay.
CW's deputy editor Richard Baker told BBC News "It has mountains,
valleys, moors and lakes. There is a great camaraderie on the walk.
It also appeals to all people. It is not an easy walk and you have to
be fairly fit, but it can be done in 12 days."

It's good even very good but not that good! Not even in my relatively limited experience is it the best. HRP in the Pyrenees beats it hands down for starters. Even the Pennine way pips it in my book. Still, don't want to know it too much, great walk! Even my 64 year old father enjoyed it when we did it a couple of years ago.
