OUTDOORSmagic regulars may have read that Bob Cartwright of
backpackinglight.co.uk, aka 'Pod Bob' has diversified from his
original audio podcasts into video casts in the shape of The
Outdoors Channel.
The
good news is that Bob now has two new feeds which you can copy and
paste into your iTunes 'subscribe to podcast' section - 'open Stream'
under 'Advanced' on the Mac version - to access TOC podcasts using,
erm, iTunes.
The first is:
http://toc.hipcast.com/rss/audio.xml
This subscribes you to audio programmes including the new editions
from TGO Magazine.
The second, and this is the exciting one, is:
http://toc.hipcast.com/rss/video.xml
That one is the feed for the new video podcasts and should give
you access to the first two which feature UK gregory importer Hugo
Youngman giving overviews of the Gregory Z and G packs.
The files are around 20 MB in size, so don't try this if you're
still lurching along the communication superhighway in a dial-up
jalopy...
If you can't access the broadcasts via iTunes then you can link to
them direct from this page at www.theoutdoorschannel.co.uk
We'll be honest here and admit that unless you're fascinated by
the vagaries of Gregory packs, the first two videocasts aren't the
most gripping examples of online entertainment out there, but it's
early days and the very fact of their existence, underlines the
potential of the medium.
We're looking forward to seeing how things develop :-)
