... but guess what, we've already tested it for the first UK user impressions of what Gore says is the most breathable ever membrane

Gore has officially released details of its new generation Paclite
fabric for 2003 to the media, but guess what, we've already tested it
:-) Oh
god, was that a crowing smiley?
As a recap, the new Paclite does away with the polymer dots that
made previous versions so distinctive and uses an inner layer
composed of carbon and an oil-hating substance. The result is a
fabric that's 15 per-cent lighter than its predecessor and a whopping
40 per-cent more breathable.
'It's come of age,' says Bill Morrison of Gore. 'With the new
laminate being the lightest and most breathable currently on the
market and offering the ultimate clothing to those who place high
importance on the weight and extreme packability of their kit.'
But like we said, we've already been using the new Paclite in two
different garments for a couple of months now and it's the most
breathable conventional fabric we've ever tried. Check out our
detailed first
UK user impressions for more information on how this stuff
actually works. And here
for more technical details on the fabric.
Oh, finally, watch out for a new Gore ad campaign in September,
which uses the strapline 'It's A Great Day' and is aimed to shift the
emphasis of Gore's advertising from the technical to a more emotional
appeal.
