We'll be bringing you our initial impressions of the new
ultra-breathable Gore-Tex XCR fabric tomorrow morning. We have one of
the new Berghaus Sullivan alpine jackets on test, but our
assessment's been hampered by the absurdly dry conditions in the Peak
District and a recalcitrant back injury.
In the mean time, we're trying to find out exactly how XCR
achieves its claimed additional 25 per-cent breathability advantage,
but as we write, no-one seems to know... At first we thought the
holes in the fabric were much bigger, but they turned out to be the
openings for your head and arms...
