Green Socks Hit The UK

Outdoors socks just got a whole lot greener with the news that US-based performance sock brand teko is now available in the UK.

Launched in 2004, what really makes the brand stand out is its commitment to sustainability by using environmentally sound recycled, recyclable and fully sustainable materials throughout its entire product range and packaging.

The company's commitment to the environment is underlined by its decision to purchase carbon offsets against the carbon emissions produced by the transportation of the US-made socks to Europe.

Clean Wind...

Teko also purchases wind energy credits to ensure that 100 per-cent of the electricity used in the production process is put back into the energy grid from clean wind energy sources.

The company's line features fabrics like EcoMerino organic wool, EcoPoly which is recycled polyester, Ingeo which is a corn-based fibre and organic cotton.

We have several pairs of the socks to try and first impressions are that the commitment to the environment hasn't compromised the technical design of the socks with the sort of differential padding and cushioning you'd expect from a top quality outdoors sock.

It's also worth noting that the company has developed several new socks specifically for the European hiking market and we particularly like the look of both the merino wool and corn-based Ingeo socks.
