Swedish company Haglöfs has won the ISPO Outdoors Clothing
Award for its 2003 LIM Ultimate Paclite Jacket and LIM
Pants.
Not only that, but unlike other Paclite 3 kit which won't be in
store until 2003, a little bird tells us that very limited supplies
of the ultralight Haglöfs jacket will actually be available in
the UK this autumn. We could tell you where, but then you'd have to
kill us, or vice versa.
The 2003 LIM - 'Less Is More' - jacket uses the new higher
performing, more breathable, Paclite 3 fabric and weighs in at just
280 grammes, that's only around 10 grammes up on the minimalist
Berghaus Paclite smock.
The LIM is much more featured though, with an active cut,
water-resistant full-length zip, zippered chest pocket, chin guard,
fixed hood with three-way adjustment, thumb holes at the cuff and
articulated elbows.
It's also likely to be more expensive, the current version which
we tested a few months back retails at £230 and even though
Paclite 3 is cheaper generally, we'd be surprised if the new LIM hits
the shops at under £200.
For more general outdoor use, there's also the LIM Gram jacket, a
540 gramme Paclite top with a mountain hood and lightweight 3-ply XCR
reinforcement over shoulders, yoke and forearms for greater
durability with packs and while climbing and scrambling.
