Hawkshead Celebrates 30 Years

We've celebrated several gear manufacturers' birthdays this year and now it's time to add Hawkshead to the list. They're celebrating their 30th with a move back up to the Lakes, where they started out.

It hasn't all been plain sailing for Hawkshead over the years. In fact, they got off to a particularly inauspicious start by setting out as a manufacturer of waterproofs in the driest summer on record! That was in June 1976, when the firm began as a family business in the Lake District.

Since then the company's been through a few rough patches, with numerous changes of ownership in the late 80s and 90s. Since 2004, it's been back in private hands and the offices, warehouses etc. are all finally moving back to the Lakes.
