Helly Hansen
has reintroduced its Odin
baselayer High Neck top and Pants intended specifically
for use in extreme temperatures on high alpine and arctic
expeditions as part of its range of Lifa baselayer clothing.
The Odin baselayer is made from a hybrid fabric which mixes 50%
superfine merino wool with 50% Lifa polyprololene to combine the
positive properties of both. The theory is that that LIFA component
moves moisture away from the skin keeping it dry and comfortable while
the merino wool gives thermal value, comfort and anti-bacterial
properties.
What's really trick about the Odin baselayers is that five different
LIFA fabrics and no fewer than ten fibre structures are incorporated
into the design and zoned so they work with different parts of the body
to deal with varying heat and moisture management needs, it
says here.
The garments use flatlock stitching for comfort and the High Neck has
an extra long cut with a drop tail to protect the midriff.
The Odin Baselayer High
Neck retails for £70
and the matching Pants
are £55.
