iPod To Go...
New compact solar charger makes sustainable music in remote trekking areas a potential reality - one for Santa's little list we reckon :-)

When we
were in Nepal last year, the trails were littered with sad-looking
trekkers nursing their power-deprived iPods to the next
generator-equipped tea house or hydro-electrified village. Yep, it's
nice to have music on the go, but keeping it playing is a bit of a
hassle...
Until now that is. New to the UK is the Solio solar-powered iPod
battery charger. Claimed to be compact enough to fit in a shirt
pocket with dimensions 'only slightly larger than a mobile phone',
the fold away panels are 'water and weather proof' and the unit is
made from recycled and recyclable materials.
The unit has its own internal battery which you charge up before
using it to charge the iPod or, with a different lead, a mobile phone
and you can also charge it using the mains. You can find out more
about the Solio at www.solio.com
and it's available exclusively in the UK from ipodworld.co.uk
priced at £49.95.
