Given the current lamentable weather, we were quietly amused to
receive a press release bigging up a set of footbeds that will
actually apply heat to your feet...
The
Conform'able Volcano Therm-ic is a variant of Conform'able's
winter-specific Volcano insole with a a difference - it incorporates
a heating element to keep your toes good and toasty. The element runs
from a power pack which you either clip to your boots or, with an
extension cord, fasten to your belt.
There's a choice of three different heat settings so you can
adjust to suit the conditions and the most powerful heatpack offers
up to 18 hours of foot-frying warmth, it says here. Unfortunately the
price of heated insoles isn't cheap, you're looking at around
£35 for the footbed itself, plus £40-£85 for the power
pack.
To be honest, the first thing we thought was 'gimmick' , but if
you suffer from cold feet and in particular if you've suffered
previous serious cold injuries and are consequently more at risk
because of reduced circulation, the Volcano Therm-ic could be a real
toe saver.
Therm-ic products are, apparently, available nationwide. More
