As of this summer, the super-efficient Jetboil is no longer just for sad,
weight-obsessed loners thanks to the launch of its Group Cooking
System (GCS).
It
does pretty much what it says on the tin, with a new 1.5 litre pot
making it possible to cook for several people instead of just one as
with the original Jetboil and, like the original, it's claimed to be
twice as fuel efficient as traditional camping stoves.
That means it will boil two cups of water in just two minutes and
a litre of water in four minutes. The FluxRing heat exchanger that
lies at the heart of the stove's efficiency allows the GCS to boil up
to 12 litres of water from one micro-canister of Jetpower fuel.
The GCS's compact unit integrates a burner with built-in igniter,
a 1.5 litre pot, pot support and stabilizer. The pot is made from
hard anodised aluminium and features a wide opening for easy gourmet
cooking, frying and simmering, an insulating Neoprene cosy and a
snap-on plastic lid. Weight is a claimed 540 grammes compared
to 425 grammes for the one-litre original.
The whole unit packs inside the pot for easy carrying and the GCS
shares the same burner base as the original jet boil system making it
cross compatible and allowing you to build a modular system, it says
here. You can also use the GCS with normal, flat-bottomed
cookware.
The Jetboil Group Cooking System will cost £90 and
should be in the shops this May.
