Just In - Meindl Vancouver
Three-season mountain trekking boot with MFS - what? - arrives for testing.

Just in for review is the first boot we've had from German outdoors
specialists Meindl
in a while, the Vancouver
MFS, a leather and Cordura fabric-uppered mountain walking
and trekking boot.
The boot has a classically European look to it, features a Gore-Tex
liner and Vibram outsole and Meindl's Digafix lacing system. Arguably
the most interesting bit is the MFS or Memory-Foam-System.
MFS uses memory foam padding around the ankle, which moulds to the
shape of your foot to give a close, supportive fit. In fact Meindl
suggests that your wear the boots for around five minutes, then once
the heat of your feet has softened the foam, you tighten them up
slightly so that the foam takes on the exact shape of you feet.
Interesting stuff. We've had positive experiences of memory foam both
in other boots and, erm, mattresses, so we're looking forward to trying
the Vancouvers and seeing how they live up both to foam expectations
and the impressive reputation established by Meindl's more traditional
classics like the Burma and Borneo leather-uppered boots.
At £165, they're a lot of money for a three-season boot, but
Meindl has a superb reputation for quality. Review to follow.

Hoy Hoy!? Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw these 'Meindl' boots. I thought someone was reviewing the Kayland Contact 1000 again. Of course I don't know what they feel like on, but they look almost exactly the same, especially lacing and colours, just less robust and about 60 quid more expensive. I have the Kaylands and they are nothing short of Haawesome. Check this for instance: http://www.backpackgeartest.org/reviews/Footwear/Boots/Kayland%20Contact%201000/Adam%20Fisher/Test%20Report%20by%20Adam%20G.%20Fisher/ Cheers peeps.
