When  things get hot, we're often asked about footwear that doesn't use a waterproof liner and while it's not common it is out there, one example being the Meindl Ventilator 7000 which is designed specifically for hot weather use.

Meindl Ventilator 7000 shoe

We've just had a pair arrive for test complete with a very breathable mesh and leather upper, a lightweight Vibram sole unit and Meindl's own Air-Active footbed. At a claimed 750 grammes or so per pair, they should be acceptably light and feel that way on the foot.

The light upper does feel less durable than some we've used, but strategic reinforcement should keep things together and we'll be using them over the UK summer - well, the hot bits anyway - and letting you know how we get on.

Price is £80 and you can find more details at www.meindl.de
