How can you not love a technical long-sleeve zip-neck base layer top in Dennis the Menace-themed stripes?
Just in for review is the latest from Wild Stripes amazingly stripy thermal base layer range, a long-sleeved zip-neck top in our fave Dennis the Menace red-and-black stripes along with matching beanie and skull-cap.
Wild Stripes aim to put a bit of fun back into base layers with their range of various striped designs made in New Zealand from 'ethically and environmentally sourced' polypropylene.
We've been using one of the original round-neck tops for a while now and it's great. Has a really nice, soft feel and works well in performance terms too. The new zip-neck is so new it's not even on the brand's web site yet, but should add venting capabilities and a bit of sun protection from the collar to the virtues of the fabric.
And it looks great too.
Update There are thumb-loops too, which we somehow managed to miss, but if you want them - we're not really that fussed - they are present and correct.
Skull Cap and Beanie To Match...
Also in the range and in matching stripes, are a Skull Cap, which is a single layer of fabric designed to work either as a high aerobic hat or under a climbing or cycling helmet for extra insulation and a beanie, made from double layer fabric and designed to work as, well, a hat.
The fabric on all three bits of kits feels every bit as soft and nice as the original. The Beanie retails for £12 and the Skull Cap for £10. Not sure on the top, we'll let you know and follow it up with a full review.
