Karrimor Gosystem Is Go!

GoGas is about to be reborn with a new name plus some interesting new stoves including a gas-burning, multi-fueller. In the shops shortly...

GoGas stoves are back and they have a new name and several new and interesting models due out at the end of this month, that's February if you can't read a calendar.

After a bit of corporate upheaval and the like, the GoGas outdoor range has been reborn as 'Karrimor Go System' and will come in classic blue Karrimor-branded packaging. We previewed the new stuff last autumn, but just to jog your memories, there were a couple of interesting new models.

Flexifuel = multifuel

First is the Flexifuel high performance stove. As far as we're aware, it's the first British multi-fuel stove on the market and can burn gas canisters, paraffin, kerosene - isn't that the same stuff? - white gas, unleaded petrol and even diesel. That should put it head to head with Primus, who also produce a multi-fueller that eats gas too, and the likes of MSR.

It has two burner jets to cope with different fuel options, an aluminium fuel pump a la Primus - MSR uses plastic - and crucially for an expedition / wilderness stove, has been designed to be totally field strippable.

Gas goers too...

We've been impressed with previous GoGas stoves in the past and, in particular, the very effective burner design, but they have been a little on the heavy side. The new MightyAtom aims to tackle that one head on and is aimed straight at the gullet of the MSR Pocket Rocket and similar.

We don't know that much about it yet, but it's described as 'a small lightweight stove with an impressive power output', but watch this space for more information and full review once the stove is available.

Other stoves have been updated with more efficient windshields, piezo electric ignition and the like. And the handy Powerpak, which converts non-threaded canisters to threaded, resealable units rolls on under the new Karrimor Gosystem badge.

There should be a web site at www.rekri8.com some time soon. The range will be available from major outdoor retailers including Blacks, Cotswold and Ellis Brigham in March.

I'm thinking of buying a GoGas Zenith or Summit stove, as Cotswolds have them on sale.
Anyone know what gas availability is like for these ? Mainly in the UK but maybe Europe also.
Can they use other gas canisters or just GoGas ones ?

The threads on the self sealing canisters are all compatible even though all the manufacturers only recommend the use of their own. The resealable gas canister is pretty much available everywhere but the pierced type of cartridge is probably more readily available certainly in France. GoGas Make an adapter that will allow you to use these cartridges with the type of stove you’re looking at and will set you back another £10.

I have a summit, and it's the beez kneez. Fast and stable.

Not light admittedly, but a nice fast reliable burner.

I haven't used none resealable canisters, but I have used Non-GoGas ones in the past with no problems.
