Lasses Wot Walk Hit The Web :-)

New women's-specific web gear shop lasseswotwalk specialises in women's and kids' outdoor kit along with an Arctic Monkeys-style grasp of the language wot is Sheffield English ;-)

There's a bit of a shortage of women's-specific outdoor gear retailers, so it's good to see a new arrival in the shape of lasseswotwalk.com the brainchild of 26-year-old self-confessed former Sheffield ladette Victoria Spurr - coincidentally a relative of Alfred Wainwright...

It all started when Victoria and her mates realised that while clubbing was fun, it wasn't a great way of actually talking to each other, so they started a regular Sunday-morning walk while their fellas were playing football.

Lasses wot walk on the prowl in their local hills, that's Vic second from right.

After a few weeks, the lasses started looking round for some decent women's-specific walking kit, but, says Victoria 'many stores were well equipped for lads but lacking in the ladies wear department.

'The range and choice were very poor with only dull colours available. This gave us the impression that walkers wore only  black and navy, but we knew this wasn't true'.

With a degree in International Fashion Marketing and five years in retail behind her, she decided - in typically forthright Yorkshire fashion - to tackle the situation head on and the result is lasseswotwalk.com, an internet-based shop selling women's and children's outdoor kit at affordable prices, often with up to a third off normal retail price. The name, pretty obviously, is pure Yorkshire.

There's also a monthly competition with a Craghoppers waterproof jacket up for grabs. Right now most of the clothing on the site is Crags and Regatta, however Victoria's planning to widen the range as the business grows, so it's well worth keeping an eye on things.
