The new Berghaus
spring/summer 2010 range is appearing about now and
there's some neat new clothing and equipment including a a new lightweight Gore Windstopper
jacket called the Windstopper
Sella.
The jacket uses a lightweight version of Gore Windstopper called
Windstopper Active Shell, which means the totally windproof and highly
water-resistant jacket weighs just 404 grammes. The fabric itself is
effectively waterproof and has a water repellent treatment, so although
it will eventually leak at the untaped seams, it should cope fine with
lighter showers and snow.
We've been banging on for ages about how Windstopper jackets need
decent venting to make them useable in typically humid UK conditions,
so it's great to see that the Sella has pit-zips for added ventilation
when working hard.
Other features include a full front zip with inner baffle and chin
guard, two zipped side pockets and a smaller zipped chest pocket. Cuffs
are lycra bound and the hem is adjustable.
The Sella is part of the Berghaus Mountain range of clothing, which is
intended for all-round, no-nonsense mountain use, but isn't quite as
extreme as the, erm, Extrem range. The whole spring/summer 2010
Berghaus range is on the web site now at www.berghaus.com
