Swiss alpine brand Mammut launches new trail-running range of shoes and clothing for this spring.
Interesting new departure for Swiss alpine specialist Mammut this spring with the launch of a new range of trail-running footwear, clothing and accessories using top-end fabrics and components.
The Shoes - MTR141
Called MTR 141 and available in men's, women's and Gore-Tex waterproof variants, they use abrasion resistant 3-D polyamide fabric with 3-layer hybrid shell and h Mammut’s: Base Fit®, Rolling Concept®, Mammut® gripex™ Sonar sole underfoot.
The latter is claimed to reduce 'the risk of foot fatigue and injury'. Cushioning is by a lightweight EVA wedge mid-sole, there's a fast-drying VENtech lining for the forefoot as well as Memo Foam padding and Mammut's 360 Heel Support.
Oddly the looks remind us of the first version of the Berghaus Pro Rush, which turned out to be one of our favourite trail shoes. Prices will be £100 for the men's and womens versions and £120 for the GTX Men's. There is no GTX Women, sorry girls.
Men's T-Shirt And Shorts - MTR71
Lightweight, says Mammut and highly breathable to minimuse heat build-up, they use VENtech fabric which incorporates and anti-bacterial treatment to banish pongs. Theyre also, it says here, nice and stretchy, thanks to a high elastane content. There are reflective details too.
Long Shorts - MTR141
Mammut aknowledges that some runners prefer a longer short, so they've made some. Like the shorter MTR71 shorts, they use a lightweight fabric with a high level of elastane for stretchty mobility and are claimed to wick and dry fast.
They have an inner short too and, it says here, 'an insert in the gusset to prevent abrasion' plus a waistband pocket - yes please, keys - and an adjustable hem. Looking good... oh and £45.
Long Sleeved Zip Men - MTR201
This one's 'medium weight' rather than light with an athletic fit and sflat-locked eam design it says. The fabric's reckoned to be high wicking and fast drying and, it say here, ' features structured knit fabric ideal for higher altitudes'. We think that means it's a bit warmer. It also has a venting front zip. Looks nice in green don't you think? Price tag £60.
Proper runners love tights, so here they are with oodles of figure-hugging stretch, a practical, longish but not full length, flatlockseamsfor comfort; a flexible, elastic meshinsertbehindtheknees for ventilation and comfort;Ultraviolet Protection Factor50+; slim fit and reflective logos for visual safety. Price £55.
Interesting stuff. All available in Spring 2013 - quite soon in other words - more details at www.mammut.ch.
