Memory-Map's iPhone app
has been released and is now
available from the Apple App Store making the company the
first major PC-based digital mapping specialist to port their software
over to the iPhone platform.
The new app uses the iPhone's built-in GPS to display your position on
Ordnance Survey mapping or full colour topo, marine and aviation
charts and there's a trip computer displaying time, distance and
average speed. You can upload and download GPX routes and tracklogs to
and from the unit and it also downloads a free base map of your current
location.
The killer for existing Memory-Map users is that it will also
use existing Memory-Map v5 maps and charts via WiFi, but new users get
a Topo Starter Pack including over 3,500 square kilometres of Digital
Map Shop credits which can be used to download OS 1:50,000 and 1:25,000
maps direct to your phone.
We're getting hold of a copy for review, so more news shortly. Price of
the new app is £19.95, but that includes the Digital Map Shop
credits as well as the app.
