Montane's 2004 range is going to include what's probably going to be the lightest eVENT waterproof jacket on the market in the form of their updated Super-Fly

Somewhere along the breathable, waterproof fabric stream of
thought thing, we seem to have forgotten to mention that the nice
people up at Montane have three eVENT jackets in the pipeline for
2004 including what looks like being the lightest eVENT top
around.

A rather poor pic of the new
Super-Fly from
the Friedrichshafen show. Looks nicer in the
flesh, so it does...

One, an updated version of the ultralightweight Super-Fly jacket will
be in the shops early next year, while the other two will appear
later on for autumn / winter.
The new 2004 eVENT Super-Fly uses soft textured, mini rip-stop 3
layer eVENT, which should be significantly more breathable than the
current Freeflow Micro material. You also get fully taped seams, an
integral, roll-away hood with wired peak, twin chest pockets, hook
and loop adjustable cuffs etc.
The minimalist features keep the weight down and we reckon the
high breathability of the fabric will suit fast movers like mountain
bikers, runners, alpinists and so on. Weight is quoted as 425 grammes
which is more than the 245 grammes of the current version, but would
make it far and away the lightest eVENT top on the market.
The current Lowe Alpine jackets are around 600 grammes plus and
aimed at climbers while the 2004 Craghoppers eVENT mountain jackets
are heavier still for all round use. The new Super-Fly should be in
the shops early next year and will be priced at around £175.
